Ksenia Ovsyanick
Principal Dancer with the Berlin State Ballet
Ksenia Ovsyanick is a British-Belarusian ballet dancer and an internationally renowned guest principal ballerina. She began her formal training at the Belarusian State Ballet College before earning a prestigious scholarship at the Prix de Lausanne to attend the English National Ballet School.
Ovsyanick launched her professional career with the English National Ballet in 2008. At just 20 years old, she danced her first Giselle and was nominated for the English National Ballet's Emerging Dancer Award. Her extraordinary talent quickly drew attention, and in 2012, she performed the title role in Firebird, choreographed for her by George Williamson. This world premiere earned her the Critics’ Circle National Dance Award for Outstanding Performance.
In 2013, Ksenia was nominated for the “Prix Benois de la Danse” as the best female dancer. Over the years, her exceptional artistry has been recognized with several prestigious awards, including the Dance Open International Ballet Award in St. Petersburg in 2018 and the Premio Eccelenza della Danza in Italy in 2023.
In 2016, she joined Staatsballett Berlin as a Principal Ballerina, where she performed leading roles across a diverse repertoire of classical and contemporary works. Her signature roles include Sleeping Beauty, The Nutcracker, Romeo and Juliet, and the title role in Erde, choreographed for her by Nacho Duato. Ksenia has also performed Rubies and Diamonds in Balanchine’s Jewels, Giselle, Onegin, Don Quixote, and La Bayadère. In the 2019/2020 season, she also appeared as a Permanent Guest Principal Dancer with the Polish National Ballet.
Throughout her career, Ovsyanick has worked with some of the world’s most renowned choreographers, including Nacho Duato, Itzik Galili, Aleksei Ratmansky, Alexander Ekman, Richard Siegal, Liam Scarlett, and George Williamson. She has also performed ballets by legends such as Kenneth MacMillan, John Cranko, Jiří Kylián, George Balanchine, and others. Her performances have taken her across all six continents, solidifying her status as a global ballet star.
Beyond the stage, Ksenia has collaborated with various artists and institutions, including art galleries, fashion designers, musicians, and filmmakers. Her partnership with British sculptor Simon Gudgeon resulted in a series of outdoor sculptures, which were exhibited throughout the UK and received several awards.
